🔍 How Wolt’s Earnings Algorithm Works

At Wolt, we use smart technology to help match you with suitable delivery tasks and ensure you’re paid fairly for the effort required.

📦 Task Matching

Our task algorithm offers deliveries based on:

  • Availability – You need to be online and ready to receive offers

  • Location – We check where you are to suggest nearby tasks

  • Vehicle type – Bikes, mopeds, and cars are all considered differently

  • Special capabilities – Some deliveries (e.g. pharmacy, cash) go only to trained couriers

Offers are sent to one courier at a time. If not accepted within 30–60 seconds, the offer moves to someone else. There are no penalties for rejecting.

💰 How Earnings Are Calculated

You earn a delivery fee for each completed task. This is based on:

  • Distance to the pickup location

  • Delivery distance

  • Order type and size

  • Conditions like weather, parking, and traffic

The fee shown in the offer is the minimum you’ll earn — tips are added on top. We aim to make all tasks equally attractive.

Your earnings are not affected by customer promotions or discounts.

⏱️ Delivery Estimates

We use machine learning to estimate delivery times based on real-time data like traffic, venue prep time, and weather. These are shown to customers but do not impact your access to tasks.

🛡️ Safety & Fairness

Wolt does not track your performance or ratings. Task offers are anonymous, and facial verification is used to keep the platform secure and fair.

Tips

Customers can tip you directly in cash.

Alternatively, customers have the option to leave a tip through the app by specifying the amount they want. 100% of the tips that customers can leave in cash and via the app are available to you!

Customers can leave a tip in the app in two ways:

  • Before the order

  • After the order

It’s a simple, convenient, and sincere way for customers to express their gratitude to our dedicated Wolt courier partners!

The main advantage of post-order tips:

Increased earnings: Courier partners will have the opportunity to earn even more income for their excellent service.

How leaving a tip after an order works:

  1. Once the order has been received, customers will be able to leave a tip within 24 hours of delivery.

  2. Tipping is completely voluntary, and the amount is chosen by the customer based on their satisfaction with the service. However, never ask customers to leave a tip after delivery!

  3. Our courier partners will receive 100% of the tips they receive, so their performance will be immediately recognised financially.

We are committed to ensuring that post-order tipping is a fair and transparent system 😊

Cash

Cash is now available as a payment option, creating more delivery opportunities and higher earning potential.

🛵 How It Works

  • If your account is active and you’ve delivered in the past year, cash orders are enabled automatically.

  • Cash orders show a special icon and required change before you accept. Always check you have enough change.

💰 Managing Cash

  • Carry small denominations for smoother deliveries.

  • You can carry up to €110. If you exceed this, your account may freeze until you offload cash. It reactivates when balance is below €35.

🏦 Offloading Cash

  • Go to Finance → Cash Offloading in the Partner app.

  • Enter amount, choose payment method, and submit.

  • Offload at least once a week to avoid payment holds or account issues.

🆘 Need Help? If a customer can’t pay or you face problems, contact Partner Support right away.

Payout Schedule

When do I get paid?

With a Natural Person contract, the payout schedule is twice a month!

  • All your work that is made between the 1st and 15th of the month gets paid out latest on the 25th of the same month.

  • All your work that is made between the 16th and the last day of the month gets paid out latest on the 10th of the following month.

The payment will arrive 10 days after the end of the payment cycle, as we need time to process the payout in accounting.

With a Company contract (OÜ, FIE, LHV Entrepreneurs account), the payout schedule is up to four times per month!

The payment cycles for company contracts will be:

  • 1st–7th of the month

  • 8th–15th of the month

  • 16th–22nd of the month

  • 23rd–last day of the month

For each payment cycle, the payout will be made latest 7 days after the payment cycle has ended!

Taxes

Wolt Courier Contracts

You can choose between two contract types: Natural Person or Company. (All earnings in the Partner App are shown as gross amounts.)


👤 Natural Person Contract

  • You partner directly (not through a company).

  • Registered in Estonian Tax and Customs Board (EMTA) under Law of Obligations contract.

  • Wolt pays all required taxes (incl. social tax). You receive net earnings to your bank account.

  • Option to apply for basic exemption (up to €654/month). Submit a signed form via Partner app.

  • Must be registered as an Estonian taxpayer.

⚠️ Note: EMTA registration means you cannot have unemployed status (Töötukassa).


🏢 Company Contract

  • Wolt pays gross earnings to your company account. You handle all taxes/salaries.

  • If VAT-registered, Wolt adds 24% VAT on top.

💳 LHV Entrepreneur Account

  • Requires a company contract.

  • Wolt pays gross to LHV account; bank deducts 22% income tax automatically.

  • Wolt does not cover any other taxes.


🔄 Changing or Ending Contracts

  • Switching from Natural Person → Company (or termination) removes your EMTA record.

  • To delete your EMTA record, contact Operations via Partner app (only possible if you terminate or switch to Company contract).

  • Registration is created once Wolt approves your contract.

You set your own schedule and you can deliver when and where you want.
