🔴 Helsingborg Marathon & Half Marathon

Impact level: Very High City: Helsingborg, Sweden Date: September 5, 2026 Time: From early morning until afternoon, with the main races starting 09:30–10:15. Some road closures begin as early as 05:00.

Main impact: Helsingborg Marathon is a major city-wide running event featuring the Helsingborg Marathon, HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon, relay races and Kids Run. The routes stretch across much of Helsingborg, from Råå in the south to Laröd in the north, passing through the city centre and areas such as Sundstorget, Stortorget, Pålsjö, Maria Park and the waterfront. Several streets will be fully closed or have restricted access during the day, including Kungsgatan, Järnvägsgatan, Drottninggatan, Stortorget, Varvsgatan and Kajgatan. Bus services will generally operate but may experience delays when runners are passing.

Recommendation: Expect significant delays and restricted vehicle access across Helsingborg, particularly in the city centre and along the race routes. Allow substantial extra time for pickups and deliveries, check navigation for temporary closures before each trip, and be prepared for detours. Bikes may provide easier access in some areas, although crossing the race course can still be restricted. Drivers should avoid the race route where possible until roads gradually reopen after runners have passed.

🔴 Kulturnatten Uppsala (Uppsala Culture Night)

Impact level: Very High City: Uppsala, Sweden Date: September 12, 2026 Time: From early morning until after midnight, with traffic restrictions continuing into September 13.

Main impact: Kulturnatten is Uppsala’s largest cultural event and Sweden’s largest Culture Night, attracting around 100,000 visitors during a single day. Hundreds of activities take place across streets, squares, cultural institutions and indoor venues throughout the city. For safety reasons, multiple streets in central Uppsala will be closed to general traffic on September 12–13, and bus services will also face restrictions. The organizers recommend moving around central Uppsala on foot, and bikes must be walked inside closed-off event areas, meaning access may also be challenging for bike couriers in the busiest zones.

Recommendation: Expect significant delays and restricted vehicle access throughout central Uppsala, particularly during the afternoon and evening when visitor numbers are highest. Allow extra time for pickups and deliveries, check navigation for temporary road closures, and be prepared for detours or completing short distances on foot. Bikes may make it easier to reach the surrounding areas, but couriers should be prepared to walk their bikes within pedestrianized event zones. Drivers should avoid the most central event areas where possible until restrictions are lifted.
