Pricing FAQ
Why did you choose this pricing model?
We want to accommodate a recurrent wish from you. We call it a fair pricing model because it reflects a fair calculation of earnings and distance, and we want to make all deliveries worth your while.
We want to make sure the earnings offered for a task better reflect the actual effort needed from you to deliver that task, such as the estimated route distance, the type of order, and much more – such as the weather during delivery in the future. To make all of this possible, we don't use fixed task fees as an example.
The ultimate goal is to make each task equally attractive for you to accept, and you will receive all the information you need each step of the way.
What does it mean for my earnings?
With this pricing model, task fees will be more flexible and match the effort required to deliver each specific task. This is to ensure that factors such as estimated route distance, type of order, and – in the future – weather can then be taken into account.
What this means in practice is that for some tasks the earnings might be less, while for other tasks they might be more.
With estimated route distance, some tasks will offer greater earnings, and some – mainly bundle tasks – less.
Your overall earnings won't be affected. We will also add pick-up fees, which will have a positive impact on the fees.
You can always see your offered earnings for any specific task before you accept or reject it.
Is this a way to save money for Wolt?
The aim is to make the task fees more flexible and match the effort required to deliver each specific task. This is to ensure that factors such as estimated route distance, type of order, and weather can then be taken into account.
What this means in practice is that for some tasks the earnings might be less, while other tasks might be paid more.
Wolt is, however, hoping to reduce costs by becoming more efficient. With these changes, fewer tasks will be rejected, which will cause fewer delays and make our operations run more smoothly.
Today, less attractive tasks are rejected simply because some courier partners feel that the effort needed for that task is not worth the fee. By better matching the fee with the effort needed, the tasks will be accepted quicker – making our service more efficient and helping us save money on expenses like customer refunds for delayed orders.
How can I know what I will earn with the Pricing Model?
The features in the Pricing Model make it easier for you to know the fee for each task. You will be shown the full fee upfront before you accept or reject it. (Note: tips will be added on top.)
We won't have a fixed base and distance fee to show, but instead pricing each task individually.
Distance, base, and other earnings components are rolled into the single ‘Task fee’, and will not be visible as a separate amount under the “Finances” tab in your Partner app.
It's done to simplify your earnings and make it easier to understand.
How are bundle orders being paid?
Bundled orders are paid based on the estimated route distance between the pickup location(s) and delivery location(s), instead of just the straight-line distance from the pick-ups to each drop-off.
Because we have a fee for pick-ups as well, and as estimated route distances are longer than straight-line distance averages, the distance fee is dynamically priced – just like everything else in the Pricing Model.
This is an example of how a bundled order appears in the app:
The below image shows how the fees are shown; the courier is offered an additional €2.50 for the second delivery and an additional distance of +0.4 km on top. IMAGE Be aware – please note that the image is just a hypothetical example!
Our overall aim is that you will see the fee and the details of the task right away when the task is offered, so you can quickly decide for yourself if you think the task is one you want to accept.
Again, the goal for us is to make every task equally attractive.
Can you give me a breakdown of the payments?
With this Pricing Model, the earnings for each task will be better matched with the effort needed from you.
Why?
We will not have a fixed amount, instead, they will be individually determined for each task.
For example, there will be no set price for driving 1.5 kilometers (distance fee). The effort it takes to drive that distance depends on whether it is over a steep hill or on flat city streets, and whether it is sunny or raining. The distance fee for 1.5 kilometers will therefore be higher or lower for any given task depending on these factors.
The good thing is that you, as a courier partner, will always see the task price before deciding if you want to accept it.
How can I increase my earnings?
There are typically two “peaks” in a day when there are the most orders available:
Lunch peak (around 11:00 to 13:30)
Dinner peak (around 16:30 to 20:00)
By coming online during these peak hours, you maximize your potential earnings, as there will be most tasks available during these times.
It’s a good idea to come online early enough for the peaks to make the most of the opportunity.
Also, deliver when others are not – there are fewer couriers and more orders during rainy/snowy days.
How can I see how much I’ve earned?
Courier Partners can at all times view their accumulated earnings in the Courier Partner app.
You can see the earning statistics from the Wolt Partner App: ➡️ Open Wolt Partner App → Menu → Statistics
How much can I earn as a Wolt courier partner?
Courier Partners have full freedom to choose how and when to deliver with Wolt.
This also means that Wolt cannot guarantee a specific number of delivery tasks, but you can see the status of your city in your app before you go online. If the app shows "normal" or "busy", you will have a good chance of being offered orders to deliver.
The invoiced amount (how much a Courier Partner earns) depends on how many deliveries you complete during a payment period.
The Wolt Partner app and its algorithm
🔍 How Wolt’s Earnings Algorithm Works
At Wolt, we use smart technology to help match you with suitable delivery tasks and ensure you’re paid fairly for the effort required.
📦 Task Matching
Our task algorithm offers deliveries based on:
Availability – You need to be online and ready to receive offers
Location – We check where you are to suggest nearby tasks
Vehicle type – Bikes, mopeds, and cars are all considered differently
Special capabilities – Some deliveries (e.g. pharmacy, cash) go only to trained couriers
Offers are sent to one courier at a time. If not accepted within 30–60 seconds, the offer moves to someone else. There are no penalties for rejecting.
💰 How Earnings Are Calculated
You earn a delivery fee for each completed task. This is based on:
Distance to the pickup location
Delivery distance
Order type and size
Conditions like weather, parking, and traffic
The fee shown in the offer is the minimum you’ll earn — tips are added on top. We aim to make all tasks equally attractive.
Your pay is not affected by customer promotions or discounts.
⏱️ Delivery Estimates
We use machine learning to estimate delivery times based on real-time data like traffic, venue prep time, and weather. These are shown to customers but do not impact your access to tasks.
🛡️ Safety & Fairness
Wolt does not track your performance or ratings. Task offers are anonymous, and facial verification is used to keep the platform secure and fair.
Pricing Model
Introducing the Pricing Model for all Wolt Courier Partners
There are five main points to highlight regarding the Pricing Model: 👉 Upfront pricing 👉 Pay for pickup 👉 Estimated route distance 👉 Reject button 👉 Simplified earnings
We do this to avoid less attractive tasks being rejected simply because you might feel that the effort needed for that task is not worth the fee.
By better matching the fee with the effort needed, the aim is to have tasks be accepted quicker, making our service more efficient and minimizing delayed orders and dissatisfied customers.
In the future, we’ll also be able to account for the difficulty of finding venue/customer locations, weather, type of order, and other variables that can affect the effort needed to complete the task.
👉 Ultimately, we want to make all tasks equally worth your time and effort.
Upfront pricing
In addition to pickup and drop-off addresses, you see the task earnings for each delivery task before you accept or reject it. In a nutshell, this means that you have a better chance of quickly evaluating what each task is worth.
We aim to make sure the earnings offered for a task better reflect the actual effort needed to deliver that order.
When a task pops up, you are able to see the offered task earnings by Wolt, but any tips related to the task will be added after.
✅ Our goal is to make it easier to decide which tasks to accept!
Pay for pickup
You are compensated for the distance between you and the venue when accepting the task. This means you’ll be paid for the entire distance from accepting the task to delivering it to the customer.
We know this is a feature that has been requested by you for a long time in our quarterly satisfaction surveys.
Estimated route distance
You will be compensated for the distance based on a pre-calculated route. This route appears in the navigation section of the app when you receive a task.
This helps prevent situations where the straight-line distance (e.g., across a river) is shorter than the actual road distance.
✅ We hope this creates a more transparent way of looking at distance when delivering with Wolt.
Reject button
You can always reject any task by tapping the three dots and selecting “Reject delivery.” You can also wait 60 seconds or message Wolt Support – but now you don’t need to.
✅ It’s now much easier to pick and choose your deliveries yourself, and avoid waiting or going through multiple steps to reject an order.
You can unassign yourself from tasks that you are unable to pick up 📲 Our Courier Partners can cancel any orders that are not acceptable to them! If you're not happy with a task, just click the cancel/reject button.
If you run low on battery or your vehicle breaks down on the way to the Merchant, you can now cancel a task without contacting our Support Team.
How do self-unassigns work?
As always, you have the freedom to accept or decline any tasks offered.
Once accepted, the task is yours to pick up and deliver, unless you experience unexpected issues.
If you run low on battery or experience a vehicle issue before reaching the pick-up, you can now unassign yourself quickly and easily.
You can do this up to 3 times per month.
If you experience more than 3 unexpected issues, you can always contact Support.
📍 If your issue occurs very close to the pickup location or on the way to the customer, you’ll still need to contact Support to unassign and coordinate what happens with the order.
Why are we making this change? Even though our Support Team usually responds quickly, we want to ensure you don’t have to write to us just to unassign in case of an emergency.
Unexpected issues do occur from time to time, and based on your feedback, we want to offer you a smoother experience in these moments.
Simplified earnings
The earnings screen in the Wolt Partner app gives you a simplified overview of your earnings, and is easy to understand.
📱 You’ll find it in the menu in the top left corner, which appears after you complete a task.
This results in a payout page that summarises your completed tasks in a compact and clean view.
Bundles
Bundles allow you to deliver more orders and increase your earnings.
With a bundle, one courier can perform two (or more) deliveries at a time.
✅ This means you can maximize your earnings while decreasing the time needed and the distance covered for each delivery.
Tips
Customers can tip you directly in cash.
Alternatively, customers have the option to leave a tip through the app by specifying the amount they want. 100% of the tips that customers can leave in cash and via the app are available to you!
Customers can leave a tip in the app in two ways:
Before the order
After the order
It’s a simple, convenient, and sincere way for customers to express their gratitude to our dedicated Wolt courier partners!
The main advantage of post-order tips:
Increased earnings: Courier partners will have the opportunity to earn even more income for their excellent service.
How leaving a tip after an order works:
Once the order has been received, customers will be able to leave a tip within 24 hours of delivery.
Tipping is completely voluntary, and the amount is chosen by the customer based on their satisfaction with the service. However, never ask customers to leave a tip after delivery!
Our courier partners will receive 100% of the tips they receive, so their performance will be immediately recognised financially.
We are committed to ensuring that post-order tipping is a fair and transparent system 😊
Payment Insights
At Wolt, we are continuously improving our pricing structure to ensure that all tasks are equally appealing for you to accept.
With this message, we want to take a moment to share some insights about recent adjustments we have made to increase the fairness and accuracy of our task fees.
Our pricing model is crafted to offer attractive hourly earnings for your online time – whether through delivering many shorter tasks, a few longer tasks, or a balanced mix of both.
Adjusting for Accuracy
Previously, we acknowledged that shorter, quick tasks were sometimes priced more attractively compared to tasks demanding more time and effort.
To address this, we are adjusting our pricing structure to better reflect the required effort and time for each task.
Investing in Fairness
As we adjust our pricing structure, you will notice that some of the tasks that require the least effort might be paid a little less. But you will also experience increased task fees for orders that require more effort.
Have you detected an uptick in your earnings for long-distance orders, large orders, or orders from and to challenging locations?
If you have, this positive change is a direct result of the adjustments we have made among the shorter and quicker tasks.
Optimizing Your Earnings
We understand that even minor changes can spark questions about how your earnings may be impacted. Therefore, we want to explain how you can optimize your earnings moving forward.
When you receive a task offer in the Partner App, it’s because you’re the optimal courier partner for that specific task at that particular time. By accepting these tasks, you can make the most of your online hours.
Diversifying the types of tasks you accept, including a mix of short and long orders, can help maintain or even boost your earnings.
We encourage you to accept the tasks you are offered to get the most out of your online hours.
As we continue refining for accuracy and fairness, we encourage you to:
Consider accepting order types you may have previously declined
Explore different delivery strategies, such as:
Adjusting your delivery times
Trying out new delivery locations
Experimenting with different vehicle choices
to find what suits you best.
