🔴 Helsinki City Marathon
Impact level: High City: Helsinki Date: May 16-17, 2026 Time: From ~9:00 (waves throughout the day)
Main impact: The marathon route covers a large loop from the city center through Töölö, Lauttasaari, Kuusisaari, and along the western coastline before returning to central Helsinki. Key roads along the coast and between islands will be closed, limiting access between western districts and the city center. Bridges and main connectors (e.g. Lauttasaari–Ruoholahti area) will be especially affected, making cross-city movement difficult.
Recommendation: Expect major delays, particularly when moving between western Helsinki and the city center. Plan routes carefully, avoid coastal and bridge sections where possible, and consider using bikes for more reliable movement. Allow extra time for all deliveries throughout the day.
