Danish Veterinary and Food Administration

Why is food safety and hygiene important?

Proper handling of food deliveries can prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses. It ensures that food remains safe at every step – from production to consumption. The following summary is based on the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) requirements, and you can go to the Wolt Partner App and take the training course in the InfoHub section to make sure you have all the information about food safety for your next delivery.

Key Rules

  1. Always get your bag when you are going out to deliver

  2. Always take your bag into the venue and to the customer’s door, CLOSED

  3. Always separate hot and cold food!

  4. Clean and store your bag properly when you are not using it

Key Rules

5. NEVER deliver if you are sick, and always keep good hygiene when delivering

6. Checking the bag conditions before going out to deliver. If it is not safe, don't use it and get a new bag before you deliver again

7. NEVER leave food directly on the floor

8. If you suspect the food is contaminated (damaged or spilled), do NOT deliver the food and contact Support in the Wolt Partner App for further assistance.

Safety & Traffic Section

🚦 General Traffic Rules

  • Drive/ride on the right side.

  • Strict compliance with traffic lights and priority rules.

  • Speed limits are strictly enforced (urban typically 50 km/h unless otherwise posted).

  • Very strong enforcement of phone use while driving/riding.

🚸 Pedestrian & Shared Space Rules

  • Pedestrians have priority at marked crossings.

  • Many shared urban zones with reduced speed limits.

  • High cycling traffic — expect heavy bike lane usage in cities like Copenhagen.

🛴 Micromobility (E-Scooters / E-Bikes)

  • Treated similarly to bicycles (if ≤25 km/h).

  • Must follow traffic signals.

  • Parking violations are enforced in city centers.

⚠️ Common Risks

  • Dense bike traffic.

  • Complex intersections with separate signal phases.

  • High fines for mobile phone use.

Core road user requirements

  • Denmark has a comprehensive road safety framework with targets to reduce fatalities and serious injuries. Safety plans (e.g., 2021–2030 Action Plan) target speeding, protective equipment, alcohol/drugs, and safer road design.

  • Alcohol limits: Standard 0.05% for motorists; cyclists and pedestrians legally have no fine threshold but unsafe conduct can be cited under general law.

  • Speeding & enforcement: Speed limits are well enforced; excessive speed remains a leading safety risk.

Pedestrian & micro-mobility rules

  • Pedestrians must use designated crossings where present; crossing outside may be illegal if a crossing is nearby.

  • Shared roads and zone speed limits in pedestrian areas are common in cities (e.g., Copenhagen).

Signage

  • “No pedestrians” and “No bicycles” signs apply where foot traffic or cycling is prohibited; these are standard traffic signs based on Vienna Convention rules.

Wolt Market Tips

As part of your courier journey, you may sometimes be receiving orders from Wolt Market.

To help everything run smoothly and to maintain good relationships with landlords, tenants, and neighbors, we’d like to share some important recommendations:

✔ Only use loading/delivery areas when you have an active order — these spaces should stay free for building operations. ✔ Avoid activities in the area, as this can cause property damage and complaints. ✔ Keep the surroundings clean — throw trash in bins and never leave waste behind. ✔ Show respect for the people living and working nearby — avoid urinating or behaving in ways that may disturb others.

These may seem like small actions, but together they make a big difference. Following these recommendations helps prevent conflicts, ensures smooth operations, and keeps Wolt seen as a positive partner in every community where we operate.

Thank you for your cooperation and for representing Wolt in the best way 🩵
