Accessibility Statement for wolt.com

This statement applies to content published on the domain: wolt.com. It does not apply to other content or domains (such as blog.wolt.com), which may have their own accessibility statements. At Wolt, we strive to make our website accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We are continuously working to improve the overall user experience for everyone, and are committed to making the website accessible, in accordance with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the relevant national legislation.

Compliance Status

Our website has been evaluated against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA and is currently partially compliant with the Guidelines, due to the non-accessible content listed below.

Non-Accessible Content

The following content is not fully accessible:

  • Some controls cannot be operated using a keyboard.

  • Some controls do not have an accessible name.

  • Some controls do not expose their state programmatically.

  • Some invisible items are in the keyboard tab order.

  • Some headings are not identified correctly in the underlying markup.

  • Colour contrast in the base contrast light and dark themes is not sufficient for some text and interactive elements.

  • Interactive elements do not always have a visible focus indicator.

  • There is some loss of information when adjusting text spacing, due to truncation.

    • In the case of venue and item cards, the equivalent information is available on the page after interacting with the card.

  • There is some loss of functionality at high magnification levels, particularly in modal dialogs.

  • There are animations that play automatically, without a way to pause them

    • The most notable ones are the large carousel on the discovery pages (it adheres to user Operating System “reduce motion” settings, but has no manual pause button), as well as animations for Wolt+ signups.

  • Some parts of the site are in a language other than the chosen one, but are not marked up as such.

Alternatives

  • As an alternative to the existing contrast issues, we have high-contrast mode available, while contrast in the base contrast light/dark modes is being remediated. You can access high-contrast mode in three ways:

    1. By interacting with the “Theme” selector in the footer (opens a dialog)

    2. By interacting with the “Theme” selector in your profile page (inline on the page, requires logging in)

    3. Via your Operating System preferences, which should apply automatically, unless you have selected a theme manually via the the “Theme” selector.

  • We are currently working on tackling the loss of information in modal dialogs at high magnification levels (up to 400%). A magnification level of 200%-300% should have the relevant functionality.

  • For loss of information in the “Cart” modal dialog, the equivalent information is available on the checkout page.

  • For inaccessible images, content is generally supplementary and does not affect the ordering experience.

  • Users may access ordering and account services without interacting with the website.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We have conducted an external accessibility audit for our website and are currently working on remedying the identified accessibility barriers. The identified issues do not affect the core ordering service. We have adopted a phased approach and are prioritizing the most critical issues. We are also in the process of integrating accessibility considerations into our design and development workflows. For example, we have updated our internal accessibility guidelines, adopted automated checks for common accessibility issues, and included guided validation of accessibility issues into our code contribution process.

Planned Improvements

We are actively working on remediation of the known issues.

We target a completion date of Q4 2025 for these issues:

  • Issues with missing accessible names.

  • Loss of functionality in modal dialogs at high magnification levels.

  • Colour contrast in the base contrast light and dark themes for text and interactive elements.

  • Animations that play automatically, without a way to pause them.

  • Issues from the other categories described in the “Non-Accessible Content” section, which are present in the main ordering flow.

We target a completion date of Q1 2026 for the rest of the identified issues.
