Carbon neutral deliveries
We compensate for the carbon emissions of every delivery made by Wolt courier partners*. This includes future, present, and past deliveries, dating back to 2015. For you as a customer, this is free. Wolt covers the cost. Together with our partner South Pole, we purchase and retire high-quality carbon credits from certified projects.
*A small part of orders made on Wolt are delivered by our merchant partners' own couriers, and not by Wolt courier partners. We are not able to compensate for the emissions of those deliveries as we dont have visibility to the delivery distance or vehicle type.
How we calculate our carbon emissions
Our deliveries are mainly done by car, scooter, motorbike or bicycle. Using these vehicle types, a country specific emissions factor for those vehicles and the number of metres driven, we calculate our carbon footprint each quarter. We then purchase an appropriate number of offsets to cover off those emissions from South Pole. If for some reason we don’t have exact information about what kind of vehicle was used for a delivery, we classify it as a car, just to be on the safe side and to compensate it enough. Sustainability at Wolt
We were founded with a mission to make cities better, for our everyone, and that means looking at our impacts across people, the planet and the economy. In 2021 and 2022, working with DoorDash and Watershed, we expanded our carbon measurement to include our full scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and begin our work to set a clear reduction plan and target to get us to netzero by 2040.
